This year has been a cool year for video game releases, something that started back in 2022 is the ability to get early access to upcoming video games before the release, meaning players can pay an extra fee or pre-order a certain bundle and they’d promised access sooner than the rest of the world. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 has made a mistake that many won’t be happy about.

While players excitedly got their hands on the early access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 and began playing, earning up rewards, and progressing in the story, fans will be devastated to learn that their save files will not transfer over from early access to the full release game, meaning players will lose everything they have worked for within this short amount of time.

Players will lose all their hard work when Baldur’s Gate 3 releases

Baldur’s Gate 3 offered early access a handful of days before the full launch day, which is coming up on us this week, meaning that the dreaded time is soon here. While some players already accept they will lose their saved files, some don’t know yet, meaning many people who paid for this early access will be out of the content they earned, whether they planned for it or not.

While it has been talked about some on the internet and social platforms with players being upset by this news, there was a Reddit post not long ago talking about how players are recommended to uninstall their early access game before the launch of the full game releases. This hasn’t been confirmed by the developers, but taking a look at the images above taken from Twitter makes many of us wonder if we need to take these steps too.

So on top of players losing their saved files, players might be deleting their early access downloads to reinstall for the 122 GB download coming later this week, which will take a bit of time to install again. The developers haven’t confirmed yet if uninstalling is recommended, but everyone’s saved files will be gone.

This is something that is super frustrating about any video game in the industry nowadays, especially with fans paying the extra money only to get the short end of the stick after it is all said and done. There is no news if any of this will be changed in a soon update.
