Beyond the innovation forums and future tech keynotes, Computex has so many other delights. It can be a little hard to keep up but we have done our best to check out as much as possible. Our team on the ground had a wonderful time eating, drinking, with the occasional bit of work too. Looking around the exhibitors, there have been a number of what we call “head turners” dotted around. Everything from PC cases to questionable keynote speeches made this a memorable event and we never even got a CPU or GPU announcement. Oh well, here’s what we considered the best products in class, along with our highlights.
PC cases made quite the appearance
Brands from all over the tech globe attend Computex and we always get to see whats coming in the PC case/ cooling realm. The 2023 event hasn’t disappointed, with some major case releases set for the second half of the year.
First up we had a variety of new cases out of Lian Li. They brought us a refreshed O11D XL (EVO) and added RGB to the regular sized O11D EVO. These, however, didn’t quite catch the eye like the O11 VISION, a case which has been enhanced with feedback from the PCMR reddit community.
Best overall PC case at Computex – Lian Li O11 VISION
Best SFF PC case at Computex – Cooler Master NCore 100 Max
Cooler Master announced its vertical NCore 100 Max PC case, which can fit an RTX 4090 inside.
Best concept PC case at Computex – Streacom SG01
Streacom showcased its fanless SG01 PC case, an interesting concept that passively cools your components, now that’s quiet. It has a pump-less, dual loop system and massive radiator on the top, we can’t wait for this to come to market.
Best cooling ecosystem at Computex – Corsair’s iCUE Link can end system building woes
If you have experience building intricate systems and decide you want multiple RGB fans /components, you soon realize there is a logistics issue at the back of the case. You find yourself needing multiple adapters and cables to get everything connected and working perfectly in any RGB ecosystem. Well, big news at Computex as Corsair is trying to finally eliminate this pain in the backside.
Corsair’s iCUE Link uses a universal cable that can connect your fans, offering up a more versatile link-up process. Additionally, each iCUE LINK enabled component will also feature its own micro-controller for bi-directional connection to the main controller hub. The hub will support up to 14 devices, including fans, your AIO, and even RGB reservoirs.
Best gaming laptop at Computex – MSI Alpha 17
the main draw to the MSI Alpha 17 lies within, the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX. This processor is currently the most available for laptops, which when paired with a mid-high-end GPU, yields impressive results. Aside form that, you get a 17.3-inch 240Hz 2560 x 1440 display, up to 64GB of RAM, and up to 2TB of SSD space. What else do you need? Oh how about Wifi 7?
Biggest head turners at Computex 2023
G.Skill had many wonders at Computex, some of which we will dive into shortly, however, we needed to address the pyramid in the room.
The build features the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard, along with an Intel Core i9-13900K, and the Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-8000. Using liquid nitrogen the team pushed the RAM to 10GHz, with the CPU reaching 7GHz clock speeds.
It’s just missing a peanut dispenser
We love a beer at WePC, so an annual beer dispensing PC is more than enough to please us (it’s easily done). GSkill again delivering what the public needs.
We hope to see multiple taps at the next one.
One, two, buckle my shoe
Remember Cooler Masters shoe thing? Well, it’s called Sneaker X and it’s a custom PC that is coming to market.
Jensen’s Karaoke has seared into the brain
It feels like yesterday as the CEO of Nvidia gave his first live speech at Computex in four years and what a speech it was. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much for us gaming nerds here at WePC, however, Jensen trying to get the audience to sing along with AI will forever be remembered.
If you missed it, jump over to YouTube and treat yourself to this future hit here.
There were countless more products around the Computex 2023 event that deserve a mention but our highlights above have us excited for what the remainder in 2024 has in store.
