The latest patch update for Diablo IV, patch 1.1.0, brought new changes to the game as well as content for the Season of the Malignant. However, the patch was received incredibly poorly, and the developers of Diablo IV took to a Campfire Chat livestream to promise that a patch like this will not be done “ever again”.

The patch notes released on July 18 were met with uproar in the Diablo community. There were big nerfs done to all classes, and player power was reduced significantly. The development team addressed this feedback in the latest Campfire Chat livestream.

The developers promised that an update will not be done again, and they have heard the community speak. We’ll go further into detail about the uproar the patch created, and how the developers have responded.

Diablo 4 Developers assure a patch like 1.1.0 will not be done again

The development team for Diablo IV held an Campfire Chat livestream to address the poor feedback the latest patch received and to talk about the future. The associate director of community management Adam Fletcher immediately started talking about the player feedback for the new update and said that it was heard.

Fletcher said that the team understood and would never make another update like this “Ever again.” The devs tried to explain why they made the choices they did but it seems like they are on the side of the players that are angry and would rather let them know that changes will be made that people would be happy with.

The latest patch for Diablo IV, 1.1.0, brought brutal nerfs to all classes in the game, and fans say the update made some builds and even the entire Sorcerer class entirely useless in-game. Players were not pleased with these changes, and many review-bombed the game as a result.

The development team assured fans during the livestream that communication will be more open between the devs and the fanbase, to make sure that changes as unpopular as the ones in patch 1.1.0 will never happen again. This includes providing patch notes before the patch hits through streams or on the official blog. This way, player feedback will be vital in future updates and patches so the game doesn’t feel like it’s punishing players for being strong.
