LG TVs have been running on webOS ever since its launch in 2014. It’s the brand’s Linux-based operating system for their smart TV ranges and dictates many of the features and content you have direct access to. A new app that has recently been added to LG TVs is Crunchyroll, a streaming service focused on anime shows and movies.
Fans have been waiting for this one for a while, and it seems like the app has been exclusive to Samsung TVs in some regions (according to this Reddit post). Crunchyroll also announced that it is now available for Samsung TVs in the US, closely followed by a global range. So, no longer will you have to deal with watching through a browser or external service.

Crunchyroll added to LG smart TVs
Much to the delight of anime fans in the US, the Crunchyroll app is now available on LG TVs. This addition was announced by Crunchyroll on February 21st, 2024. You can search for the app without the LG Content Store, if you haven’t already come across it in the featured section. It isn’t just available in the US either, as a wide number of regions should now have access to the Cruchyroll app.
It is now available for download and gives you access to a library of over 46,000 episodes and movies, with subtitles and dubbed options across more than 12 languages. We have noticed a couple of comments recently mentioning that there is a problem with the app recognizing premium accounts, so we hope that gets cleaned up quickly.

LG has been gearing up to launch the LG C4 and LG G4 with pre orders now going live, so now could the best time to pick one up if you’re interested in watching some of your favorite anime on a crisp OLED TV.
Is it available in all regions?
The official announcement post details that the launch covers the US and ‘many other markets around the world’. This obviously isn’t a comprehensive list, so we recommend checking out the LG Content Store to see if you can find it in your particular region.
One thing we do know is that the Crunchyroll app is not available in Brazil at the time of writing. There is no reason for this at the moment, or whether support will come in future, but we can see plenty of comments wondering why.
