The Mantis Puzzle is incredibly difficult and Starfield only gives players a few hints before making them solve it. Looking back, it’s pretty simple but only if you know the clue and what to look for. In the end, Mantis’ son was unable to solve the puzzle, but we’ll give you the answer.

If you like Starfield and the hidden mysteries, be sure to read about where the casino is and where to get a house.

As you go through the facility, you’re going to meet a bunch of Spacers and go over datapads that give you hints at what the password will be. We’ll give you a hint before we go further, but it’s part of what the mother always tells her son. Below is the answer.

Solution to the Mantis puzzle in Starfield

TYRANNIS is the password to the turret area. The mother and last Mantis always told her son “Sic Semper Tyrannis,” which means “thus always to tyrants”. Essentially, it means tyrannical leaders will be overthrown eventually. It stands to take down Spacers who are literally disorganized goons, and when they get organized or go too far, the Mantis comes to take them down.

Mantis’ son, who was unable to figure out the password, was shot by the turrets, and his final message shows how little he cared about his mother’s role.

You can go through the puzzle with any companion. They will not set off the turrets regardless of where they step. So just go through the letters T-Y-R-A-N-N-I-S and then you will get through. The puzzle is still active and shooting the turrets will cause them to activate, so it’s best to leave the area alone when you are done.

Be sure to grab the armor before trying to go for the Spaceship, since the armor is a bit out of the way and the Spaceship requires you to activate the display next to the door to leave.
