Do you know what can silence the Nightsong in Baldur’s Gate 3? After reaching the gauntlet of Shar and getting past multiple traps, you are rewarded with a riddle. If you want to get the Spear of Night, you must solve said riddle or leave.
For solving the Silent Library puzzle, you will be rewarded with the Spear of Night and the Dark Justiciar Helmet. This puzzle is very similar to that of the Thorm Mausoleum. Instead of murals, however, you are surrounded by bookshelves.
Get ready to read more than just a list of spells. Shadowheart will greatly approve of you helping her with her quest. Just be glad there aren’t traps like noxious fumes to deal with in here. So the question remains. What can silence the Nightsong in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Silent Library puzzle guide in Baldur’s Gate 3
To begin this lovely puzzle, get to the bottom of the Gauntlet of Shar after the third faith-leap trial room. Be careful, there are many hostiles inside. Once in the Silent Library, make your way to the large gate at the far end of the room. Open the gate using a lockpick. You will then see an altar. On the top of the altar is the riddle; “What can silence the Nightsong?” You will need the Teachings of Loss: the Nightsinger to silence the Nightsong.
You can place an item into the altar to solve the riddle. This item in question is a book. Unfortunately, there isn’t a librarian around to help you find it. The book you are looking for is called Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger.
The book in question is located on the second bookcase from the entrance on the northern side of the room. There are some booby traps on the bookcase so be careful. Obtain the book and bring it back to the altar. Place the book in the slot on the altar or plinth to open the treasure room.
As part of this puzzle, there is a large barrier-like librarian in the center of the room that is casting the Silence spell in the library. You can destroy this if you want to be able to cast spells again. This will mainly affect Gale or Halsin if you have them on your team. Karlach and other non-magic users won’t be affected.
This isn’t the first puzzle you will solve. There is also the moon puzzle in the Selunite Outpost near the Myconid Colony in the Underdark. To reach this puzzle, you can climb down into the Underdark via the Goblin Camp.
