From cute Nifflers to mythical Unicorns and mighty Dragons, Hogwarts Legacy hosts many magical creatures in the Wizarding World. In your journey, you’ll be unveiling the mysteries of Hogwarts, coming across these Magical Beasts. Some you’ll get to tame and ride, while others you’ll have to square off against.
However, the most interesting of these creatures are Dragons, which comprise a portion of Harry Potter’s lore. As such, the current talk of the town in Hogwarts Legacy is Dragons and particularly if you can ride them.
Are dragons rideable in Hogwarts Legacy?
In short, you can’t ride any Dragon in Hogwarts Legacy. Hogwarts Legacy features only three mounts – the Thestral, Onyx Hippogriff, and Hippogriff – which you can ride. In fact, you’re far from riding Dragons in Hogwarts Legacy since you can’t even tame one, to begin with.
However, there are several instances where you get to encounter Dragons in the game. Your first encounter occurs on your way to Hogwarts in a cutscene. The rest of the encounters are through quests with Poppy Sweeting, and you’ll even get to fight one as a boss battle. Apart from these encounters, you’ll see nothing in the game which relates to taming or riding Dragons.
We have seen more and more mods out there showing up, including rideable dragon mounts! Nothing official so far though.
Will Hogwarts Legacy DLC have dragon mounts?
Anyhow, this doesn’t mean that Dragon-riding won’t be made possible in future DLCs. With a strong response from the fanbase, who knows, maybe the next update Avalanche Software rolls out may feature the Norwegian Ridgeback by your side! Now that we’ve seen mods showing off the potential of flying dragons, perhaps this is something we can see officially in the game.
On the flip side however, this may discourage the developers from working on something already available through mods – it’s all up in the air at the moment. It would definitely be nice to experience riding a dragon on console with official support!
Riding a dragon in Hogwarts Legacy : Final word
Dragons have been officially classified as beasts which can’t be domesticated, as they are infamous for killing Witches and Wizards. Of course, this means you don’t have a chance of riding them at the moment. However, if it didn’t stop Hagrid from taming them, it won’t be stopping our hopes for riding a Dragon in a Hogwarts Legacy DLC further down the road.
