Blaidd the half-wolf is one of the most important NPCs that you will encounter in Elden Ring. But in true FromSoftware style, it is entirely possible to miss his first appearance altogether. Blaidd serves as part of an important questline further down the road, so it’s definitely worth it to speak to him here early and get the ball rolling as soon as possible!

Elden Ring: Finding Blaidd

If you travel near the minor Erdtree in West Limgrave, you may come upon a mysterious howling in the vicinity of the Mistwood Ruins. Those that have already made the trek up to Stormveil Castle may have bad memories of a pack of Wolves dropping in from the sky. But the wolf you’re after here tends to keep to himself and will need some encouragement to show his face.

Once you have heard the howling near Mistwood Ruins, return to the Church of Elleh, just north of The First Step in Limgrave. Speak with Merchant Kale there, and you will have the option to discuss the howling in Mistwood. Kale will then speak in vague terms about Blaidd. You will be given a Finger Snap emote, and instructed to use it directly below the source of the howling.

Returning to Mistwood

Once you have made your way back to the Mistwood, look up towards the ruins’ highest tower. A strange, wolflike humanoid will be perched up there. Make your way into the ruins and position yourself below the tower. A gargantuan and deadly bear is resting in the ruins, but they can be safely ignored for your purposes here. Once below the tower, use the Finger Snap emote and Blaidd will jump down from his perch.

Once at ground level, Blaidd can be communicated with like Most NPCs. In spite of his wolflike demeanor, Blaidd is quite personable. He will tell you that he is looking for a man named Darriwill, and would appreciate your help in the matter. Fortunately, Darriwill isn’t too far away in Elden Ring, but he is more hostile than you might have hoped. Head to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in the south of Limgrave. Enter, and Blaidd can be summoned for this boss fight against Darriwill. Persevere, and Blaidd will offer his thanks. He then points you towards a blacksmith in Liurnia of the Lakes. It’s fairly certain that you will see Blaidd again as you journey through the world of Elden Ring!
