As the inevitable FIFA 23 release date approaches, many are starting to wonder who the FIFA 23 ICONS will be for the latest edition.
FUT ICONS are special player cards in FUT, based on legendary players of the game.
These ICONS don’t just have amazing ratings and skills, they also link to every player around them, making them some of the most highly sought-after cards in the game.
Last year we saw Cafu, Rooney, Van Persie, and Casillas added.
If rumours are to be believed, we could see a bit of a shake up fro Icons going into FIFA 23. There are suggestions that some Icons will be downgraded to Heroes in the new game.

What FIFA ICONS were new for FIFA 22?
Last year Cafu, Rooney, Van Persie, and Casillas were added to the ICONS list.
“After exploding onto the scene as a teenager playing for his boyhood club, the world woke up to a new English superstar”
“In Robin van Persie’s long career, he was known world over as a deadshot number 9 with highly refined technical ability“
“The most successful goalkeeper in Real Madrid’s grand history, the story of ‘’San Iker’’ is a classic football fable.“
“A key cog in some of Brazil and Europe’s greatest sides, Cafu’s attacking play down the right of the defence made him a legend of the game and inspired all his sides to triumph.“
FIFA ICON vs HERO cards
Heroes differ to Icons because they get positive chemistry links to any player who belongs to the same league as them. They also link with players of their nationality but it isn’t as strong a link.
We now know that the Heroes featuring in FIFA 23 will be part of a collaboration with Marvel. Marvel are designing the cards as seen above, as well as publishing limited edition comics for the featured players.
The unique artwork that the cards sport puts this promo that step above others we have seen in the past. At the very least it makes them much nicer to look at.
The players we know that are featuring so far are:
- Diego Forlan – 91 – as “Sunstrike”
- Lucio – 90 – as “The Thunder”
- Rafael Marquez – 89 – as “El Kaiser”
- Javier Mascherano – 89 – as “Octob-Boss”
- Yaya Toure – 89 -as “The Citadel”
- Landon Donovan – 88 – as “The Brave”
- Park Ji-Sung – 87 – as “Tigerheart”
- Cladio Marchioso – 88 – as “Il Prinicipino”
