Madden 24 is the latest entry to the long-standing football simulation franchise. It is the only major football video game on the market as EA Sports has been making the only NFL-related games for several years now. It has a devoted fan base across multiple platforms, but can those platforms play with each other?
Madden is a notorious multi-player game. Being that it is a sports game and sports are usually head-to-head, players can play against other friends, online competitors, and the CPU. With a wide range of consoles available to play on, it’s important to note if those friends and online competitors have to be on the same platform.

Does Madden 24 support crossplay?
Yes, Madden 24 will be cross-platform. This is the case for those with current-gen versions of the game, like the PlayStation 5, PC, or Xbox Series X|S. As long as each party has the latest version, gamers can play with one another. This can be done through the friends list or by randomly matching with someone online. It functions the same way as the multi-player did in previous entries, but the player pool is wider now.
For those on previous gen consoles, like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, their online play will be a little restricted. They can only play with friends on the same platform.
Madden NFL 24 crossplay is a new entry to the franchise as it has previously been impossible. As consoles and gaming platforms have collected their devoted communities, video games need to be able to play with other platforms to ensure the widest audience possible.
There are two caveats, though. The crossplay for the latest entry to the franchise only includes select game modes. Head-to-Head, Madden Ultimate Team, Superstar KO, and Superstar Showdown will be crossplay on launch day. Franchise mode can be if the creator makes it a connected franchise. Modes may be updated in the future for cross-platform play.
However, that is largely the extent of the multi-player modes within the game. Face of the Franchise, the lasy-gen game mode, does not have crossplay, naturally. The gameplay experience remains the same, though. Crossplay doesn’t come with any additional cost, either.
Will Madden 24 have cross-progression?
Along with crossplay, Madden 24 will have cross-progression. However, it will only be involved with avatar progress and gear purchases within the Superstar mode. Much like crossplay, this is also a current-gen feature, so Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 users and PC players can take advantage of this feature. Madden 24 has been out for the different platforms since mid-August, and fans of the NFL can play together or on different consoles as long as they have next-gen consoles.
