In Madden 24, you can take control of an entire team with franchise mode. You can do whatever you want with this team, as you become the head coach, general manager, and owner. Anything they could do with an NFL team, you can do in franchise mode.

That includes relocating a team, drafting players out of college, and signing free agents. The latter is the best way to improve a team, but it’s the most limiting. There’s only a set amount of money you can spend. One way to clear up cap space is by restructuring contracts for your players. Here’s how to restructure contracts.

How do I restructure contracts in Madden 24?

If you come across a veteran player who has regressed in their overall rating, you may find that they are costing the team a lot of money and it’s not a worthwhile investment. If this is the case, you have a few options. Depending on the penalty, it may be worth it to cut them to free agency. Trading is another option. There is a third, however, that doesn’t involve them leaving: restructuring the contract in EA Sports’ latest title.

Every NFL team is under the salary cap, so Madden NFL teams have to abide by that as well unless you turn it off. This means that every player’s contract counts against you, making it harder to sign other free agents or even draft picks in the future. Rookie contracts are not expensive, but if you have no money, it doesn’t matter.

To restructure a contract for a player on your team, follow these steps:

  1. Open Madden Franchise Mode
  2. Head to your Roster page
  3. Find the player you want
  4. Select his player card
  5. Scroll to the bottom
  6. Select “Restructure contract”

From there, you begin negotiation on a new contract for the player. They may not want to take less money, but it’s a much better option than cutting or trading them. There is another option to adjusting a player’s contract, but it is somewhat illegitimate.

You can go to the player card and select to edit the player. From there, you can change almost everything- including their contract. If star QB Josh Allen’s (the cover athlete) $258 million deal is too much, you can shrink it this way.

Note: This does not apply to Superstar Showdown or Superstar Mode, Madden Ultimate Team (MUT), or any other game modes besides Franchise Mode. Madden 24 is available for purchase for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
