NBA 2K24 offers you the chance to once again take control of an NBA team. You can run your favorite squad how you see fit, which is enticing for fans of teams who are perhaps not doing so well in the modern NBA. The game allows complete and total control over everything, including the mascot, the team branding, and the location. Here’s how you can relocate your team.

How do I relocate in NBA 2K24?

First, it needs to be noted that relocation is restricted to MyNBA eras mode. You don’t have control over an NBA franchise in MyTEAM, MyCAREER, MyPLAYER, or Mamba Moments. Head into that mode and start a new file. If you want to move an existing team, enter that file. Choose an existing team from the modern era.

From there, enter the menu. Scroll down to the “Front Office” tab and then select Relocate Team from the menu. This will bring up all your options. Start by choosing a new city. The following are available:

  • Miami, FL
  • Tampa, FL
  • Orlando, FL
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Athens, GA
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Raleigh, NC
  • Richmond, VA
  • Virginia Beach, VA
  • Washington, D.C.
  • Baltimore, MD
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • East Rutherford, NJ
  • Providence, RI
  • Boston, MA
  • New York, NY
  • Bronx, NY
  • Buffalo, NY
  • Montreal, CA
  • Toronto, CA
  • Detroit, MI
  • Cleveland, OH
  • Columbus, OH
  • Cincinnati, OH
  • Louisville, KY
  • Nashville, TN
  • Memphis, TN
  • New Orleans, LA
  • Chicago, IL
  • Milwaukee, WI
  • St. Louis, MO
  • Kansas City, MO
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Oklahoma City, OK
  • Dallas, TX
  • Fort Worth, TX
  • Austin, TX
  • San Antonio, TX
  • Houston, TX
  • El Paso, TX
  • Albuquerque, NM
  • Colorado Springs, CO
  • Denver, CO
  • Salt Lake City, UT
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Mesa, AZ
  • Tucson, AZ
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • San Diego, CA
  • Long Beach, CA
  • Anaheim, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Fresno, CA
  • San Jose, CA
  • Oakland, CA
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Sacramento, CA
  • Portland, OR
  • Seattle, WA
  • Vancouver, CA
  • Honolulu, HI
  • Anchorage, AK

Select your new city and proceed. Your attempt to relocate will likely be approved instantly. You may not want to choose a city with an existing NBA team, but you have the above options at your disposal. Your new team name should reflect, for example, our team is now the Las Vegas Hornets.

How do I change team names in NBA 2K24?

If you aren’t pleased with your new team name, rest assured. You can change it. Instead of the Las Vegas Hornets, you can be something else. Head back to the Front Office > Team Relocation menu. This time, select Team Branding. This will give you Team Identity, Team Logo, and Team Colors to customize.

In the Team Identity section, you can even change your location name. If you would prefer to be called Vegas instead of Las Vegas, you can type that in. You can change the mascot here, too. You have free rein to type in whatever you want, so you can turn the Charlotte Hornets into the Vegas Bees if you so desire. Make sure the new abbreviation matches correctly.

In the Team Branding section, you can select your colors. If the teal and purple of the Hornets doesn’t match your new team, you can easily change them to whatever you want. There are three to choose from: a primary, secondary, and tertiary color.

Finally, you can change the logo. The community will upload whatever they want to be their logo, and you can do so too. If you have a custom picture in mind, you can upload it. For example, the community has Ice Spice on an American flag, DJ Khaled, the Nike logo, a Joker image, and more that you could choose from.

Your images will be in another section. You can also get generic logos that can be edited from the “Customizable” section. These include an anchor, a fish, a dog, an axe, and more. There are also presets with colors and text that you can choose from. You can also choose historic NBA logos, like the original Atlanta Hawks logo. Existing NBA logos (including secondary logos) can be used, too. You can even take parts of these and edit them. The same can be done with WNBA team logos.

How to change arena and jerseys in NBA 2K24

The final steps are to customize the new arena and your new jerseys. These are also found in the Front Office > Team Relocation section of the menu. This gives you full customization over what uniforms the team will wear, where they will play, how the gym looks, and more.
