There are plenty of things to find in the open world, from The Research Laboratory to all the star systems you can dream of. While you’re out exploring, you’ll run into factions, groups of people who have different purposes in the story and in the explorable world.

What is the Constellation Faction in Starfield?
The Constellation Faction is a group of space explorers and scientists found during the gameplay and story missions in Starfield. There are nine major factions in the game, in addition to several minor factions, and Constellation is just one of them. The Constellation is one of the first factions you’ll encounter, and you will be able to join them by default.
They are one of the oldest factions in the game, having been formed about 140 years before the main story takes place.
The Constellation Faction is mainly exploration-focused, as opposed to other factions like the Freestar Collective, Ryujin Industries, Sanctum Universum, and Crimson Fleet which have other purposes such as money. They are the last group of space explorers and want to discover all the mysteries of the universe. They are one of the largest factions in the Settled Systems, with plenty of members.
We currently know of eight members of Constellation you’ll encounter in-game:
- Vasco
- Matteo
- Barrett
- Noel
- Sarah Morgan
- Sam Coe
- Vlad
- Walter
While these are the ones we know, there are sure to be more to find as you journey.
Where can you find the Constellation Faction in Starfield?
The Constellation Faction has plenty of bases, but their main headquarters can be found in New Atlantis, just like the United Colonies Faction. Luckily, they appear early in the game during the quests and missions, so it will be easy to join their ranks.
There’s plenty more to find in your exploration of the stars during Starfield, from cities to discover like Neon City and Akila City, to space pirates you can battle. Factions are just one of the many ways to gain companions and enjoy the game.
