While you’re out exploring the Settled Systems and beyond in Bethesda’s newest game, Starfield, you’ll be running into a lot of groups known as factions. These factions are space explorers and other groups who spread their influence on others.

There are plenty of factions to join, from the Constellation to the Crimson Fleet, each with its own purpose and mission. One of these joinable factions is the Freestar Collective.

Who is the Freestar Collective? What is their purpose? We’re here to tell you everything you need to know about the Freestar Collective Faction in Starfield.

What is the Freestar Collective in Starfield?

The Freestar Collective is a faction dedicated to protecting the personal freedoms of the star systems in its confederation. These star systems include:

  • Cheyenne System
  • Narion System
  • Volii System

They consider themselves the peacekeepers of their systems and strive for stability amongst the space pirates that terrorize their areas. They are considered the space western fantasy faction of the game.

They remain in a shaky truce with the United Colonies, whom they had been at war with 20 years before the game began in the Colony War and Narion War. Tensions are still high between the two factions. They are one of the large Starfield factions and possess the second-largest human military force.

Where is the Freestar Collective in Starfield?

The main headquarters for the Freestar Collective is in Akila City, part of the Cheyenne System on the planet with the same name. They can also be found in other cities found in their star systems, such as Neon. They protect their frontier fiercely, from both space pirates and other factions.

There are plenty of other factions to be found in the vast open world of Starfield, from Ryujin Industries to the Ecliptic Mercenaries. You can make your own hero in character creation, choose your desired factions, and enjoy the main quest as well as side missions.

There’s plenty to see and do in Starfield, and joining factions and their causes is just one of the options found in the extensive gameplay.
