Starfield How to hail a ship

As you traverse the Settled Systems, you will find various types of people, some pirates and others seeking to scan your ship for contraband. When you lock on a ship, get as close as possible until the Dock and Hail pops up on the right side of your screen.

To hail a ship means to open a line of communication to prove you are a neutral party. However, ensure you are not in combat before you do this. Additionally, during the game’s main story, you will have a few side quests or missions that require you to use this feature. To help you smooth things over much more easily, you can also invest in a skill that allows you to persuade others easily. Of course, once you do, you’ll make your way to a new destination in no time.
