Do you have a stolen ship that needs to be registered in Starfield? Perhaps you have a fleet of ships that you are looking to sell but can’t. Your vessels need to be registered with the government if you want to make a profit off of them.

Sometimes being a space pirate isn’t cheap and you need to deal with registration fees. Luckily, you probably have a lineup of outposts built to collect and sell resources. No matter what faction you have sided with, if you want those credits, you will need to register a ship to sell it on the selling block.

Ships are typically worth a lot of credits so you will probably get a profit off that new ship. It is much easier to sell a ship than all your smuggled contraband. This guide will show you how to register ships to sell them in Starfield.

Starfield – How to register ships

If you want to register a ship in Starfield, you will need to start by going to a ship services technician. These technicians can be found at the spaceport in major cities like Neon, Akila City, and New Atlantis.

Talk to the technician and tell them that you would like to see “what ships they have for sale.” From there, switch over to your ships by following the prompt in the bottom right corner of the screen.

While viewing your fleet of ships in the ship building menu, you will see a button prompt in the bottom right corner to register your ship. Unfortunately, there is a registration fee that comes with registering a ship. This will cost you roughly 80% – 90% of the ship’s value. This is almost equivalent to the cost required to purchase a new ship.

If you don’t have the credits, you can always farm them. You cannot sell a ship until it has been registered and you can never sell your home ship. Luckily, you should still make a profit if you decide to sell your ship which is always a nice reward for you and your crew.

There are many ships in the galaxy for you to plunder and you can register all of them.

Can you register stolen ships in Starfield?

Yes. You can register stolen ships in Starfield as well as ships that you obtain from a quest. The process is the same as registering a ship normally:

  1. Go to a ship services technician
  2. Select what ships they have for sale
  3. Follow the prompt at the bottom right corner of the screen that says register
  4. Pay the registration fee
  5. Check your ships to make sure it is registered

Make sure to check a ship’s cargo for contraband because stolen ships typically have illegal items in them. Ships stolen from the Crimson Fleet or Spacers will typically have contraband in the ship’s inventory. You won’t need to worry about this if the cargo hold has a shield.
