Season One of Diablo IV already brought big changes and updates to the game before even launching. The Season of the Malignant is now live, but players are facing issues already, despite the preparation. Players on PlayStation 5 are reporting that the game crashes in the create a character screen.

PS5 players are just as eager to begin the new season, but if they are unable to create new seasonal characters, the entire season is unplayable. Multiple people are reporting this issue so far, and it’s causing lots of people to be unable to play any of the new content.

This doesn’t bode well for fans, especially as the patch notes and nerfs Blizzard made for the 1.1.0 update were not received well. With a huge bug like this, work is already cut out for the development team. We’ll go into detail about the issue with PS5 players’ games crashing.

PS5 Diablo 4 players unable to play Season 1 as game crashes

Many players on PS5 report that the game crashes as soon as they enter the create a character screen to create their seasonal characters to begin playing. Reddit user u/JustHere2Complain posted that the game will crash as soon as they enter the character selection screen.

Multiple users have agreed, and the subreddit is flooding with people facing the same issue, from those commenting on u/JustHere2Complain’s post to others making their own posts, like u/RSVI encountering the same error.

If you can’t create a new seasonal character, none of the Season of the Malignant content is available to you, and the only option to play will be to head back to the Eternal Realm. Those characters are reportedly loading fine, as the crashing only seems to be affecting new characters being made in the Seasonal Real,

After the negative reception to the latest patch update, Blizzard was hoping for a smooth start to the new season so players could jump in and give the new content and battle pass a try before final judgment. However, if the new content is unable to be played due to a bug like this, it will make it much harder to steer feedback over to positive.
