A recent leak apparently showing the first image of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card has been revealed. This came from the Slashleaks website and according to the rumor, the original source is an employee from TSMC.
The image has since been taken down from the website so it’s hard to say whether this is because it’s genuine or not.
From the image, we can see that it has a long base and up to three fans. Besides that and the brushed steel case, it’s hard to tell much from the image.
Is it a Real Image?
Of course, with any kind of leak, there’s no way of knowing for sure. That’s why we always suggest taking rumors with a pinch of salt.
Given that the image has been removed, there’s no other leaked evidence and the user doesn’t appear to have leaked anything previously, this may after all be a fake.
Tech Radar suggests that this is “almost certainly a fake” and that it might be a simple case of a Photoshop of the RTX 2080 Ti.
While it might be a bit disappointing if it is a fake, after all, we should see more information about the RTX 3080 graphics card soon enough. It’s just a case of when.
Nvidia’s next-gen plans were supposed to be announced at Computex 2020 but this has been delayed until the end of September. We could hear more about it before this, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for any updates.
What Do We Know About the RTX 3080 Graphics Card?
Not much is known about this mythical graphics card. It is largely accepted to be a real upcoming card which will come out sometime this year. This card is rumored to feature Nvidia’s brand new Ampere architecture.
This card could feature up to 128 SMs and 8192 GPU cores. It’s also expected to be much faster than the RTX 20-series and also Turing architecture in general. We’re expecting a hefty price tag attached to this, with rumors suggesting around $700 for it. We hope it’s a lot lower than that of course! However, we can’t be sure until Nvidia releases it.
If we hear any more information about Nvidia’s RTX 3080 in the meantime, we will keep you up to date. We are also interested in hearing what you think about all the Ampere and RTX 3080 rumors, so feel free to leave a comment below.
