Now that Nvidia have announced their 40 series Super line-up, there has been a lot of discussion regarding whether these new GPUs are worth your time. With the RTX 4080 Super on the way as the third and final of the bunch, we think that it offers some of the best value for money amongst the lot, based on what we’ve seen so far. Before you jet off and figure out where to buy RTX 4080 Super though, we have to consider some of the improvements and selling points.

Back when the ‘vanilla’ RTX 4080 released, the pricing was pretty disappointing. We’ve already put together a full comparison of RTX 4080 Super vs RTX 4080 if you want to understand the technical details, but the pricing was for sure one of the biggest problems. Luckily, the Super tries to remedy that.

RTX 4080 Super price is more competitive

The performance gains you’ll find in the specs are nice to have, but we’re mostly concerned with the brand new price. Nvidia have revealed have the RTX 4080 Super will have an MSRP of $999 / £959, which is a considerable $200 less than what the RTX 4080 was at launch and much more in line of what we like to see.

Unlike the other Super cards which adopt the same starting price, Nvidia seem to have listened to complaints and slashed the price of the 4080 Super, which will be joining the RTX 4080 Family on January 31st.

Why is the RTX 4080 Super worth it?

We’ve known a lot about the RTX 4080 Super specs for a while now, even before they were officially announced. The prior rumors and leaks were pretty much spot-on. Improved performance is always nice to have and the new price is what makes it worth it for us. The 4K performance is bound to be excellent – the 4080 already delivered that, but the Super refresh gives us a little more – and for cheaper.

Even though the RTX 4090 will remain the best of the best, the new 4080 Super is finally worth considering if you weren’t too convinced by the 4080 (much like ourselves) at its high price – our GPU expert Seb remarked this in his RTX 4080 review. Not everyone needs a 4090 and the 4080 Super slots into the second-best space nicely. Plus, its TDP is 130W lower, making it much easier to keep cool in a wider range of rigs.

As some people have been discussing on Reddit, the 4080 Super may be one of the best big upgrades if you’re still on an older 2000 series (or older) card.
