Do you want to find Lae’zel in Baldur’s Gate 3? This Githyanki fighter is very useful to have in your party. Infected with a Mind Flayer tadpole as well, she will begrudgingly work with you and get you access to specific areas in the game after you escape the Mindflayer ship.

Lae’zel is a fierce and skilled warrior with high strength, athletics, survival, and intimidation who is dedicated to her people and their mission to destroy the mind flayers. However she is also a loner and can be difficult to work with, but she is great on the battlefield thanks to her proficiency with many melee weapons, decent Dexterity, and acrobatics skill.

Through the use of deception or blunt force, you can help Lae’zel and get her to join your team. There are many other companions in the game that are worth getting and work well with Lae’zel. Be sure to find others like Wyll and Karlach – both of whom are worthwhile additions to the game. This guide will show you how to find Lae’zel in Baldur’s Gate 3 and offer information about her character.

How to Find Lae’zel the Githyanki in Baldur’s Gate 3

Lae’zel appears twice at the beginning of Baldur’s Gate 3

  • Lae’zel can be found on the Nautiloid Ship, on the left side as you progress through the tutorial.
  • She can then be found in a cage north of the Roadside Cliffs, near where you first find Gale. She is being held prisoner by two tieflings. You can free Lae’zel to recruit her for your party.

Where to Find Lae’zel

Lae’zel can be found in two places at the beginning of Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • On the Nautiloid Ship
  • Captive near the Roadside Cliffs

On the Nautiloid Ship

After completing the first prologue of the Mind Flayer ship, you will walk outside. Lae’zel will jump over you just before the first fight. After the fight, she will leave your party and you will need to find her again. To find her, go to the bridge of the ship. She will be standing on the left side. Talk to her and she will agree to join your party.

  1. After traveling a bit, Lae’zel will automatically find you and initiate a cutscene.
  2. She will join you during the fight against the smaller demons.
  3. Lae’zel will remain with you until the fight at the helm of the ship.
  4. After the fight, she will be separated from you.

By the Roadside Cliffs

Once the ship has crashed and you’re on the ground, head north of the Roadside Cliffs. You will see two tieflings NPCs standing around. Lae’zel is trapped in a cage hung above them. As you get close to the tieflings, you will get pulled into a conversation where they’re debating what to do with Lae’zel. You can either free Lae’zel or let the tieflings kill her. If you free Lae’zel, she will agree to join your party.

  1. Head north of the Roadside Cliffs.
  2. You will see two tieflings standing around. Lae’zel is trapped in a cage hung above them.
  3. As you get close to the Tieflings, you will get pulled into dialogue where they’re debating what to do with Lae’zel.
  4. You can either free Lae’zel from the trap when the mini bow icon appears at the base of the cage or let the tieflings kill her.
  5. If you free Lae’zel, she will agree to join your party.

To free Lae’zel from the trap, simply attack it above you using a ranged attack. Sometimes it takes more than one attack, so just keep hitting it. This will break the cage and Lae’zel will fall down to be freed.

Tips for Finding Lae’zel

Lae’zel is one of the first companions you’ll meet and have joined your party, but if you’re having trouble, check out these tips.

  • If you’re having trouble finding her on the Nautiloid Ship, you can use the map to locate her.
  • If you’re having trouble finding her by the Roadside Cliffs, you can ask Gale for help. He will tell you where she is.
  • You can also use your Insight skills to learn more about Lae’zel and her motivations.
  • Charisma checks will allow you to convince the Tieflings to leave.

About Lae’zel

Lae’zel is a Githyanki Fighter, and a complex and flawed character. Her background is designated as Soldier. She is quick to anger and often acts without thinking. This can lead her to make rash decisions that can put the party in danger. However, she is also a loyal and dedicated companion. She will fight to the death for her friends and she will never give up on a fight. Along with Lae’zel, there are several other companions you can find in the game so far, like:

  • Astarion (Vampire spawn)
    • Rogue
  • Gale
    • Wizard
  • Shadowheart
  • Wyll
    • Warlock

If you can manage to earn her trust, Lae’zel can be a valuable asset to your party. She is a skilled warrior who is always willing to put her life on the line for her friends. She is also a valuable source of information about the Githyanki and their culture.

Additional tips for finding Lae’zel

  • If you’re having trouble finding her on the Nautiloid Ship, you can use the map to locate her.
  • If you’re having trouble finding her by the Roadside Cliffs, you can ask Gale for help. He will tell you where she is.
  • You can also use your Insight skill to learn more about Lae’zel and her motivations.
  • Lae’zel is a powerful warrior, so she can be a valuable companion to your party. However, she is also a bit of a loner, so you may need to work to earn her trust.

However, if you are not careful, Lae’zel’s impulsiveness and anger can get you into trouble. She is not afraid to speak her mind, even if it means offending others. She is also quick to challenge authority, which can make her difficult to work with in some situations.

It is good to have Lae’zel take up the Eldritch Knight subclass of fighter or the Battle Master subclass. Both of these will make her melee weapon stronger and give her more options in battle. Specifically, the Eldritch Knight subclass will allow Lae’zel to use magic while in melee combat. She also works very well with the Great Weapon Master feat.

Ultimately, whether or not Lae’zel is a good companion for you depends on your playstyle. If you are looking for a loyal and dedicated warrior who will always have your back, then Lae’zel is a good choice. However, if you are looking for a companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 who is easy to get along with and who will always follow your lead, then Lae’zel may not be the best fit for you.
