Forcing a turnover is a great way to change the game in Madden 24. If you’re trailing and need the ball back, a turnover is great. If you need to shut down an opponent’s final drive, a turnover is a good way to do that. It gets you the ball back and can shift the momentum. Interceptions are good, but they require the quarterback to make a mistake. Fumbles are a little more common, so here’s how to strip the ball in Madden 24.

How do I strip the ball in Madden 24?

To strip the ball, simply press the right button (RB button for Xbox and R1 for PlayStation) when you are close enough. Where you’d ordinarily tackle someone on defense, try pushing the buttons to take the ball from the ball carrier.

This can have adverse effects in Madden NFL, though. Much like the hit stick, if you’re unsuccessful, the runner will blow by your defender and gain even more yardage. With that in mind, it’s important to try to strip the ball in Madden 24 at the right time.

When you are in one-on-one defense of a ball carrier, the strip move may not be wise unless you are that desperate for a turnover. It’s generally better to have backup tacklers there so if the strip fails, the offense won’t generate a big play as a result.

X-Factors and player ratings play a role in forcing fumbles via strip. Certain superstar abilities will improve the chances of landing a strip attempt, and of course, the opponent’s ball security ratings will impact how likely they are to lose the ball.

Another thing to keep in mind is where to try a strip. If the runner is near the sideline, it’s probably best to just knock them out of bounds. The likelihood of a successful strip that doesn’t involve the ball going out of bounds (aka not a turnover) is very slim.

You can also make coaching adjustments so your defensive AI players are more of a guarantee to at least try and strip the ball. Do this by visiting your coaching settings and adjusting the strip frequency to aggressive. This means everyone, from a defensive lineman to a safety, will try to strip the ball and not just your controlled player.

There aren’t really any tricks to pulling this major move off, and it’s a risky play every time. Regardless, if you need to force a turnover, this is a good way. Try doing it when the QBs are running the ball as they have lower ball security and may not be aware of a defender trying to strip.

Madden 24 is available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
