Starfield – Is it an Xbox Exclusive game?
Yes, Starfield is an Xbox console exclusive game. That means if you want to play the game on PlayStation consoles, you’re going to be disappointed. The game will only be available for the following platforms:
- Xbox Series X|S
- Xbox Game Pass
- PC
PlayStation gamers will have to play on one of the above if they want to jump into the Starfield universe, with either the Standard Edition, Premium Edition, or Constellation Edition.
Why is Starfield an Xbox Exclusive?
The reason Starfield won’t be on PC is because of the Microsoft acquisition of ZeniMax Media and Bethesda Software. Because they are both owned by Xbox’s creator, the game is only being released on their own platforms so their competition doesn’t benefit. Overall, the game is on fewer platforms so Microsoft can gain from the console exclusivity.
Sony will miss out on this huge title, and all PlayStation gamers will have to either skip the title or find another way to play.
Bethesda has other huge titles backing up the studio, including the legendary Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises. It makes sense that companies would fight over who gets the big benefit of being the only console that releases their next game. This next-generation role-playing game is already a hit, and Xbox is proud to have that success to themselves.
