Today’s the day that we should have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus release date confirmed! The Samsung Unpacked July 2023 Event will be occurring today, when we expect to see the new device revealed as well as info about when we’ll be able to buy it. Before then, we’ve accumulated the latest rumors, leaks, and info below to extrapolate out what we think is a likely release date, plus what we believe the specs and price could be for this new device. We’ll soon know whether or not these are on the money!

Much like with their phones, Samsung has historically made larger, versions of their tablets, dubbed with the uninspired ‘+’ to denote the difference, that tend to be identical to the base model other than their larger size and bigger displays. These are Android tablet models that come with a stylus pen to rival that of the Apple iPad. We expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ or ‘Plus’ released alongside the main model as has happened with the previous two.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S+ / Galaxy Tab S Plus release date history

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S Plus sub-range has only been going as far back as the release of the S7 series (so we’ve had a S7+ and a S8+). Both of these were revealed/launched at the same time as the standard variant and then released (i.e. was available to buy in-store), 2-3 weeks after. Below are the dates of when the previous models were unveiled to the public and then when they hit the shelves, all of which can be found on Wikipedia.

To note, both previous reveals took place at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event on a Wednesday. Pre orders went live more or less immediately and the products were properly released just over two weeks later on a Friday, so it’s likely (though not certain) that this will happen again in 2024.

• Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ reveal: 5th August 2020, Galaxy Tab S7+ release date: 21st August 2020.
• Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ reveal: 9th February 2022, Galaxy Tab S8+ release date: 25th February 2022

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ / Galaxy Tab S9 Plus release date prediction

Whilst Samsung has yet to officially confirm anything, it’s considered very likely by all major tech commentators that we’ll see the Galaxy Tab S9 revealed at the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event in Seoul, which has been confirmed as taking place on July 26th, 2023.

Assuming this is the case (again, pinch of salt), looking at the previous release history above if the Galaxy Tab S9+ will is revealed on Wednesday the 26th July, then the actual Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus release date will probably take place on Friday the 11th of August, but of course we’ll have to wait and see.

To coincide with the launch of the Tab S9 Plus, we expect it’s older sibling the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra variant to also be revealed, and the base model Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 of course included in the lineup. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are likely to turn up to the show as well., and we may even see the Galaxy Buds 3 release date come to pass, although this appears much less likely based on current rumors.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ / Galaxy Tab S9 Plus specs rumors

Whilst there has been no official information released on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 specs, a lot of rumors have been circulating from the likes of Ice Universe, @OnLeaks, and the Wolfoftablet. The latter have brought to our attention some renders which are supposedly leaks of the Tab S9+ design that you can see further down this page, and if these are true (which is not guaranteed), it would appear the Galaxy Tab S9+ has a very similar design to its predecessor.

The only way it appears to differ from the Tab S8+ is the design of the camera, which looks a bit more like those on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series of phones. We can therefore assume the same storage, RAM options, Wi-Fi and other specs will be as on the previous model, but with the improved the superior Snapdragon 2 CPU, as below:

• Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 2 (unconfirmed)
• Display: 12.4″, 1752 x 2800 (c.266ppi) (unconfirmed)
• Cameras: dual rear camera + single selfie camera (unconfirmed)
• Ports: USB-C, Smart Connector (unconfirmed)
• Dimensions: 285.4mm x 185.4mm x 5.64mm (unconfirmed)
• Misc: magnetised S-Pen clip on the reverse (unconfirmed)

We expect the display will be made from the usual IPS LCD panels, although Ross Young has claimed that there could be an 11-inch model of the base S9 variant that comes with an AMOLED / OLED display, there’s no rumors about this being on the Plus version. Supposedly the S9 series as a whole will be IP67 certified, making it far more water-resistant than the previous variants, so bath dropper’s can rest slightly more easy.

Once again, there’s been no official information release on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus price, but looking at how much you could purchase previous models can give us some guidance. Pricing is easier to estimate than other characteristics of upcoming devices, as you can use the historical data from previous variants.

Given that the Tab S8 Plus currently goes for $900, we can expect a reasonable premium over that, putting our Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus price prediction at $1,000.
