Now to move on to our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 release date prediction. Samsung hasn’t yet released the official release date for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, but we know it will come at the Samsung Unpacked. Although the event usually takes place in August, Samsung have officially announced this year it will be taking place on July 26th. Something we could only previously establish via rumors. Samsung have clearly advertised that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will feature with their ‘Join the flip side’ slogan.

Since the unveiling (i.e launch) is arriving sooner than usual, that could mean that the full release date does too! As we’ve seen in the case of the last two devices (Flip 4 and Flip 3), the announcement took place on a Wednesday, with the device releasing two weeks later on the Friday. Since the event is indeed on Wednesday July 26th, we can place our release date prediction as August 11th, 2023 – right around when the initial launch took place in previous years.

Considering the Galaxy event will include a bunch of announcements, we also expect to see the likes of the Fold 5, Galaxy Tab S9, S9 Plus, & S9 Ultra unveiled.

More and more rumors and leaks are showing up for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 as we close in on the release date. The Korean website The Elec has reported the new Samsung Flip device will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It’s an efficient chipset, which will improve the battery life. NotebookCheck have revealed a bunch of specs, revealing that the foldable will keep the 6.7-inch display, but the cover panel has increased in size from 1.9 inches to 3.4 inches among other upgrades.

SamMobile has reported three storage variants: 128GB, 256GB, and 512 GB. Analyst Ross Young initially claimed Samsung is upgrading the external display to 3 inches. Ice Universe however backs up claims of the much larger cover display of 3.4 inches, almost square, with a 1:1.038 aspect ratio. Leaker Tech_Reve on Twitter posted an image of what looks to be the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Showing off the larger external screen and seen in a phone case. They also revealed that the battery life could be similar to that of the Flip4, regardless of the larger cover screen.

Ross Young has also added that the inner display will be upgraded, thanks to the new hinge design, reducing the crease. Meanwhile, Ice Universe has also said the same with a bit more specificity; Samsung will use a new water drop hinge, allowing the phone to fold completely flat. The inner screen will also have a narrower bezel. Lastly, Ice has said the Z Flip 5 will receive a IPX8 waterproof rating.

If this turns out to be the case, it’s actually a pretty sizeable increase in price from the Flip4.

Smartphones with folding screens cost higher. We actually thought there could be a good chance that the price would be lower or stay around the same level given foldable tech is becoming more available. Recent leaks contradict that though.
