If you’ve already got a huge backlog of games you’re working through, it probably doesn’t hurt to add another 900 to the list right? If you’ve been struggling to find a game to play lately, the Steam Game Festival is a great way to experience something new.
What To Expect In The Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition
The Steam Game Festival is an annual digital event where you can check out a bunch of new and upcoming games. There are also featured live streams, chats with developers, and a whole lot of demos to check out.
If you want to grab a taste of what’s to come, check out the official Game Festival page. Here, you’ll see a list of some of the featured demos, a live stream section where you can watch developers showcase their game, and even an option to sign in to see demos that are from your Steam wishlist.
If you’d like to check out the developer live-chats, AMAs, and live streams, there is a schedule further down the page where you can see what’s coming today and any future events.
If you’re struggling to make your way through the list of over 900 demos, you can filter by genre at the top of the page. Another great tip is to filter your Steam search by “demos only” which can be achieved through selecting Demos as a search type.
This event is already underway and is due to end on June 22nd, around the same time as these demos.
Stuck For Choice?
We get it, 900 games is a lot. If you’d like a few recommendations of some great looking games, see our shortlist below.
Initially released back in 2010, Heavy Rain is one of the most popular titles in the David Cage interactive storytelling adventure games. This game was pretty revolutionary at the time and was a welcome return to the type of gameplay found in Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy a couple of years prior.
This psychological thriller has players engage in the hunt for the Origami Killer through four different characters, each with their own personality and choices. The PC version of this title is set to be released on the 18th of June 2020, so be sure to check out the demo.
You can also check out the demo for the recently released Desperados III if you’ve been thinking of picking it up. This game is a tactical stealth game set in a ruthless Wild West world.
If you’re not familiar with the Desperados games, this title is a great way to get started. You’ll have to be tactical and use stealth and quick gunplay to outwit your enemies. This isn’t just a standard Wild West title either, one of the characters has their own set of mind-controlling powers to play with.
This self-confessed Scandanavian style adventure game is another title that’s well worth checking out. In Röki, you’ll embark on an inspiring journey to save your family. You’ll explore forgotten lands, strange locations and encounter a wide variety of strange and wonderful creatures.
Of course, we’re not going to list all 900 of these demos for you today - half the fun is the thrill of the search. This is a great opportunity to find a new title, or even take a look at a couple of games you wouldn’t usually purchase.
A week hardly seems long enough to make a dent in these titles, especially if you’re reading this stuck in work. However, if there are a couple of games that have been on your wishlist for a while now, this is a perfect time to dig in.
What do you think of the demo selection? Have you found anything that you think you’ll purchase? Let us know in the comments section below. Remember, you only have until June 22nd before this event ends!
