During this time, you will meet many companions, such as Sarah Morgan and Barrett, who will help you along the way throughout the main story.

After you leave the lodge, you will have your boost pack in tow. No matter what spacesuit you have, you can choose a different pack to accompany it. The pack has little boosters on it that will help you jump better and also help you navigate in zero gravity, allowing you to glide during a battle.

Of course, as there are plenty of areas and factions to explore, including New Atlantis and the Crimson Fleet, you may want to know the easiest way to get around. So, follow this guide to learn how to use the boost pack in Starfield.

How to use the Boost Pack / Jetpack in Starfield

You must choose the Boost Pack Training Skill to use the Boost Pack in Starfield. You can find this in your skill tree after you reach Level two. Each time you upgrade your pack, it will require one skill point.

  1. Go into your skill menu.
  2. Go into Inventory
  3. Select Constellation Pack
  4. Equip the Constellation Pack
  5. Now, select Commerce
  6. Navigate to Tech
  7. Select Boost Pack Training. It is the second icon from the left
  8. Once you choose this skill, you can use the Boost Packs

Now that you can use the Boost Pack, to use it, you must press the Jump Button. This is the Y button on Xbox or the Spacebar on PC. Once your character is in the air, double jump to use the Boost Pack. Remember to lower the sound if you use headphones because the sound of a jetpack tends to be louder than people talking.

When you first receive your pack, it will be one of the basic Boost Packs. As a result, you can upgrade your rank as you progress during your exploration and acquire more Skill Points. You can upgrade the boost pack in the tech skill tree using the Boost Pack Training skill. There are four Ranks for the Starfield Boost Pack Training Skill:

  • Rank 1: You can now utilize boost packs
  • Rank 2: Using the boost pack expends less fuel
  • Rank 3: Boost Pack fuel regenerates more quickly
  • Rank 3: Doubles previous bonuses meaning it will regenerate fuel faster and last for a longer amount of time.

Using the packs will help you in various ways throughout the game. You can use it to get around and float in the air when there’s low gravity or during your missions. These packs will also significantly assist in battle, allowing you to get an edge on an enemy.

There are many different types of boost packs you will get access to throughout the game.
