You’ll get to meet Maya during the Surgical Strike quest. This is a part of the Freestar Collective questline, the one at the end of which you get rewarded with the Star Eagle ship. Once defeated, you’ll get 25 XP and a bunch of loot, including a weapon. The drop will be different for every player, but everyone will get the Encrypted Slate. Unfortunately, she won’t drop any credits.

For this, you need to choose “[I’m not leaving until I get some information about the First.]” Even though you won’t get any additional information, Maya will still hand over the Encrypted Slate.
