Should you kill or spare Ron Hope in Starfield? This question will pop into your mind during the Hammer Falls mission. You will have to decide whether you want to earn some quick credits and let go of someone guilty or do the right thing and kill him. We’ll explain what happens during both situations in this guide.

For starters, Ron Hope is the CEO of HopeTech, who poisoned the land of farmers and made them leave so he could harvest minerals for his industry.

The worst part is that he is one of the Governors, something that makes him a part of the council that runs the Freestar Collective. This makes it difficult to arrest him, but at the same time, you can’t just let someone guilty of a serious crime walk away, can you? Therefore, the fate of Ron Hope depends on you.

Do I spare or kill Ron Hope in Starfield?

If you ask us, we think that killing Ron Hope is the best choice. While you won’t be able to get your hands on any credits (we’ll talk about them later), you will still have done something that keeps your honor intact. Furthermore, the feeling of sending someone as corrupt as Ron Hope to their grave is much better than filling your bank with credits.

What happens when you spare Ron Hope

When you interact with HopeTech’s CEO and confront him, he will instantly try to bribe you. He is someone who can not afford to be exposed, so he’ll offer you 20,000 Credits for keeping your mouth shut. Sounds a lot, right? Well, by negotiating with him, you can take this up to 50,000 Credits. Money isn’t an issue for Ron, so convincing him for 50k won’t be difficult.

If you accept the offer, Ron will give you the credits you asked for. However, you will have to give him all of the evidence that proves what he did, as well as the Hull’s Slate. Even if you decide not to take the money and cover up for him always, you’ll still lose the Slate. So it’s better if you take the credits. Do keep in mind that your companions will not like what you’re doing.

After your conversation with Ron is over, you’ll have to talk to Marshall Daniel in Akila City and lie to him about everything.

What happens if you kill Ron Hope

If you’re someone who is not after the money and doesn’t like getting bribed, then your only option will be to arrest Ron Hope. However, he won’t give in easily and will start a fight. You won’t only be dealing with Ron, as his security guards will also start attacking you. Make sure you have some of the best weapons in your arsenal for the fight. Wearing a good armor will also help you survive longer.

After you’re done killing everyone, you’ll need to return to Daniel and brief him about the situation. He will be a bit disappointed that a member of the Council of Governors has been killed, but after all, he was a criminal. Therefore, you won’t get into any trouble. In fact, you’ll be given a bunch of rewards, including weapons and credits.

Now that you know the outcome of both options, you can decide on your own. If you’re someone who wants a monetary gain and doesn’t really feel bothered by letting a criminal walk away, go ahead and take the bribe. But make sure to use your negotiation skill and take it to 50,000 credits.

However, if you want to stay true to your duty and make a criminal pay for his actions, then don’t hesitate to arrest him (which will lead to Ron Hope getting killed). Make sure to continue pushing through the Freestar Rangers questline so you can get your hands on the Star Eagle at the end.
