Worlds First 5G Laptop Lenovo Yoga 5G

CES never seems to disappoint when it comes to great gaming news and tech updates. This year has been no different. With major announcements from large brands including AMD, LG, Samsung, and the likes, this year’s CES could be one of the biggest when regarding major advancements.

Speaking of major advancements, Lenovo has unveiled their impressive Yoga 5G at this year’s convention, and it’s being showcased as the world’s first 5G laptop.

Upon hearing this news, we wasted no time and sniffed out the Chinese company’s stand to get the inside scoop on this new, “world’s first” 5G laptop.

The Lenovo Yoga 5G is likely to go on sale in the first quarter of 2020, initially for $1,499. The representative at the stand also mentioned to us that the laptop would be branded as the ‘Flex 5G’ in North America.

Lenovo Yoga 5G Specs

As far as specifications are concerned, we understand that the Lenovo Yoga 5G is the first laptop to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx platform. This allows the Yoga to be equipped with a built-in 5G connection, which has the ability to download large files at around 4GB/s.

The Yoga 5G will also come with Bluetooth 5.0 wireless support – but, having said that, no WiFi was listed in the Yoga’s specifications PDF.

From a performance point of view, the Yoga 5G comes with a wide-angle 14″ display which offers up to FHD clarity. It has 2-in-1 functionality so you can theoretically turn this laptop into a tablet by flipping the display and using it as a touchscreen. All very fancy.

One other stand-out feature, for me anyway, was the impressive 24hour battery life it offers. It has the ability to do so thanks to thermally efficient computing that uses 60% less power than the previous generation of Qualcomm. Pair that with the impressively slight weight of 1.3Kg and you have a seriously impressive portable laptop at your disposal.
