The Lands Between is Elden Ring’s universe, populated by Gods, monsters, mortals, and everything in between. The Elden Ring, a tangible expression of the world’s fundamental rules, was broken, and its primary parts are now held by strong Demigods – also known as Shardbearers. These are the progeny of Gods and Mortals, as those who are Marika’s direct offspring or stepchildren are usually referred to as “Demigods.”

Each of these strong creatures is always striving to possess the entire Elden Ring by collecting all of the parts. These monsters make up the majority of the game’s primary plot Bosses. These Demigods received various powers from their Elden Ring fragments, transforming and distorting their bodies and minds as they succumbed to the Ring’s corrupting presence.

Those blessed by the Elden Ring frequently have a golden glow that may be seen in their eyes. It’s time to seek all the golden glows you can find.

The rest of this post will feature references to the gods and demigods, so you should stop reading now if you wish to avoid any Elden Ring spoilers.

What are Demigods in Elden Ring?

Elden Ring is home to a slew of fearsome monsters. The game’s primary bosses are Demigods, Lords, and Legends. These will provide players with a reminiscence and one of the 10 Great or Mending Runes, fragments of the Elden Ring. As a result, they’re called “Shardbearers”, ruling over their own territories in the Lands Between.

Who are the Demigods in Elden Ring?

Let’s have a look at some of the godly Elden Ring royalty.

Stormveil Castle Major Demigods

Margit the Fell Omen

Drops: Talisman Pouch

Though no specific narrative or dialogue explains why Margott defends Stormveil Castle, a little bit of logical reasoning leads one to believe that Margott wants to prevent Tarnished from claiming any of the Elden Ring’s shards.

Godrick the Grafted

godrick elden2

Drops: Godrick’s Great Rune, Remembrance of the Grafted

They were previously known as Godrick the Golden. The harsh lord of Stormveil Castle and a descendant of Marika through Godfrey. Godrick was humiliated several times during the Shattering and now finds himself confined in Limgrave.

Academy of Raya Lucaria Demigods

Red Wolf of Radagon

Drops: Memory Stone

The Red Wolf can can be located in Raya Lucaria within Liurnia of the Lakes. It may seem like one, but this is not an optional boss – to progress to the Legacy Dungeon, players must fight it.

Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon

Drops: Great Rune of the Unborn, Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen

Rennala was born into the Carian Royal family, which is derived from astrologers and a magical royalty dynasty. Due to their expanding dominance, the dynasty gradually became conflicted with Raya Lucaria’s academy. She rose to the top of the academy as a young woman thanks to her mastery of Full Moon magic.

Redmane Castle Demigods

Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight

Drops: Ruins Greatsword

Imagine this: you’ve arrived at the square of Redmane Castle, on the outskirts of Caelid in Elden Ring, and you’re about to confront some terrifying adversaries. Perhaps you’ve successfully entered and are either incredibly shrewd to have survived this long or have prepared well and defeated every foe thus far.

However, the Castle’s main obstacle lies just ahead of the fog, in the form of a problematic double boss confrontation. The next fight is with the Misbegotten Warrior in a gladiator battle between man and beast, but the champion, the Crucible Knight, intervenes and makes it much more dangerous.

Starscourge Radahn

Starscourge Radahn Boss Guide Featured

Drops: Radahn’s Great Rune, Remembrance of the Starscourge

To begin with, Radahn may appear to players as an outlier, as a warrior with equal strength as a swordsman and a wizard. However, when you look at his parents, things start to come into focus.

Rennala and Radagon had three children, the others being Ranni the Witch and Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy. Rennala was a great mage and the queen of the Caria dynasty, and the master of the Raya Lucaria Academy. Radagon, on the other hand, was a Golden Order champion. He started as a warrior, but his first wife, Rennala, taught him magic, and his second wife, Marika, taught him incantations.

With those two as parents, it’s only natural that Radahn would pick up a few tricks of the trade.

Volcano Manor Demigods

Godskin Noble

Drops: Godskin Stitcher, Noble Presence

Even though the nobles served “the gloam eyed queen,” the apostle set says:

The apostles, once said to serve Destined Death, are wielders of the god-slaying black flame. But after their defeat by Maliketh, the Black Blade, the source of their power was sealed away.

And, as servants of this predetermined death, I believe it implies Melina is the gleam-eyed queen once more. The Godskins were her troops, and she intended to murder the gods by resurrecting the ring and bringing death.

Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy

Drops: Rykard’s Great Rune, Remembrance of the Blasphemous

Rykard was one of Rennala and Radagon’s three children, the other two being Radahn and Ranni. He traveled across and outside the areas in his youth. He met his consort Tanith during his adventures and rediscovered Mt. Gelmir’s vanished culture.

Leyndell, Royal Capitol Demigods

Morgott, The Omen Kin

Drops: Morgott’s Great Rune, Remembrance of the Omen King

Morgott is a character in the Elden Ring mythos who has had everything snatched from him. The circumstances of his birth took away his throne, his family, and the counsel he would have received from the Erd tree’s favor.

Despite being rejected because of his birth circumstances and imprisoned under the city, Morgott is the demigod most dedicated to the Erdtree’s preservation. He took it upon himself to defend it, even though he had never been loved in return.

He fought as Margit the Fell in the Shattering War as part of his effort to safeguard the tree. Under this guise, he slew any champion who attempted to ascend to the throne. However, it is apparent that this desire persisted after the conflict.

In Limgrave, he tracks down the Tarnished and attempts to stop them from stealing Godrick’s Great Rune. This isn’t out of any particular affection for Godrick (though he does label him a traitor), but rather to keep the Tarnished from gaining runes.

Godfrey the First Elden Lord

Drops: 60,000 Runes, Talisman Pouch

Godfrey was the first Elden Lord and the first husband of Queen Marika the Eternal. Queen Marika’s children with Godfrey were demigods because she was a goddess.

He was a mortal hero of legendary prowess, but after achieving his crowning victory, he lost the grace of the Greater Will; he was then exiled from the Lands Between and became the very first Tarnished.

Were the main Demigods named after George R.R. Martin?

This may be odd, but all of Elden Ring’s main gods and demigods have names that start with the initials of Game of Thrones author and Elden Ring co-writer George R.R. Martin.

Everyone who carries the Great Runes has a name that starts with G, R, or M. Some are Godfrey, Godwyn, Godrick, Morgott, Mogh, Rennala, Radagon, Radahn, Rykard, Ranni, Renna, Marika, Malenia, Miquella, and Maliketh. It can’t be a coincidence that there are so many G, R, and Ms, right?

It’s unknown how much of an influence the Game of Thrones author had on the names of these Elden Ring individuals, but his involvement in the project had an impact. In actuality, George R.R. Martin has acknowledged that he did “just a little worldbuilding” on Elden Ring and that Miyazaki and his crew deserve “almost all of the credit” for the game’s phenomenal success.
