Among these fights, one that stands out the most is the Pensieve Guardian boss encounter during Percival Rackham’s Trial. One attack in particular that makes the Pensieve Guardian a deadly opponent is a charged-up orb projectile that hits you for a ton of damage.

As lethal as the orb attack of the Pensieve Guardian is, it can easily be countered. You can destory the orb as it’s being charged by casting a spell having the same color as the orb. Pensieve Guardian charges up either a yellow or purple colored orb. Hence, you need at least one yellow and one purple spell in your spell slot during the fight.

We recommend equipping the following spells for effectively destroying the orb:

There is a 2-second window before you can cast your spell and destroy the orb while it is being charged. Therefore, you have plenty of time to register the color of the orb in your brain and cast a spell accordingly.

Remember that destroying the orb isn’t the only way to avoid it. In case the Pensieve Guardian starts charging an orb while your relevant counter spell is on cooldown, you can avoid taking a hit with a correctly timed dodge as well. 

However, the orb projectile travels extremely fast, so the dodge window for this attack is pretty short. You have to be frame perfect to prevent damage; that’s why we recommend timing your dodge right when the orb projectile is launched.

• Cast an Ancient Spell on the boss whenever possible. It will not only deal a great amount of damage but also stuns him for a couple of seconds.
• When you see the white mist-like aura around the boss, move away from its range as it explodes, taking away over half of your HP.
• Use the pillars in the boss arena to avoid taking a hit from his attacks while casting spells rapidly to chip away at his health bar.
