How to open locked doors in Hogwarts Legacy
In Hogwarts Legacy you will frequently come across locked doors. They will show a text saying Level 1 Lock, Level 2 Lock, or Level 3 Lock. The game doesn’t tell you how to open locks so this can be a bit confusing at first. Story progress is required before you can open locks.
Level 1 Locks
- First you must finish the mainline quest The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament. This unlocks the Alohomora Spell (Level 1) which allows you to open Level 1 Locks.
Level 2 Locks
- To unlock Level 2 & Level 3 Locks you must improve your Alohomora Spell. This is done by collecting Demiguise Statues and bringing them to Mr. Moon. You can track this through the side quest The Man Behind the Moon, which you can track from your quest log (it is automatically added to quest log from the story).
- For Level 2 Lockpicking you must bring 9 Demiguise Statues to Mr. Moon.
Level 3 Locks
- For Level 3 you must bring another 13 Demiguise Statues to Mr. Moon (9+13 = 22 total). These statues can only be found at night. There are 33 statues total but only 22 are needed for unlocking the Level 3 Alohomora Spell.
When casting the spell on a door you will have to solve a little puzzle. If you don’t want to deal with this, on Story Difficulty you will get a button prompt to skip these puzzles.
