It’s a cardinal sin within the Harry Potter universe, but in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll get the chance to learn them and use them against enemies out in the world.

Now that Hogwarts Legacy has been available through early access, needing level 28 for this curse doesn’t even matter for some keen players. This guide will show you how to unlock the killing curse, Avada Kedavra in Hogwarts Legacy.

  • “Yes, please.”

Once you complete the quest, you will be brought to a cave teeming with Inferi. Here, you’ll have to complete a short battle against a character we won’t name here, after which you’ll be given the option to learn Avada Kedavra.

Whilst this spell can prove harder than some to obtain and learn, the practical use of it is fairly simple. When you use the Killing Curse on someone, they will immediately die. This goes for bigger enemies like trolls, too.

This can be useful in situations where you’re being swarmed by enemies, or simply if you’re looking for the quickest and most effective way to defeat your opponent.

What Happens if You Use The Killing Curse?

As there’s no morality system in Hogwarts Legacy, you aren’t punished in any way for using it or any of the other unforgivable curses. Despite it being one of the three Unforgivable Curses, which normally result in a life sentence in Azkaban Prison, the game allows you to use them with impunity.

However, NPCs will often frown upon it if they see you use it in battle. Seems like they’ve severly toned down consequences of killing in this game.

So, will it effect the story? No, not at all. Weird.
