Are you curious to learn what the location of the Stolen Safe Key is in the Starfield Failure to Communicate quest? During your adventures, you, with your companions, will venture to different planets, finding resources and helping others. The Failure to Communicate quest is a side mission to get a break from the main quest. Don’t worry there are more main missions to come.
During this quest, you must face space pirates similar to the Crimson Fleet faction. Are you prepared to take on this daring adventure? This quest will take you from the Lodge in New Atlantis to distant places like Neon.

What is the location of the stolen safe key in the Starfield Failure to Communicate quest?
You can find the Stolen Safe Key on the desk next to a Grunt Issue magazine in the center of the Command Room or Captain’s room in the Retrofitted Starstation. During your time on the Retrofitted Starstation, you will find four locked safes in the control room. With the Stolen Safe Key, you can open all four locked safes and obtain loot.
You can obtain the following items once you open the safe with the Stolen Safe Keys:
- A lot of Credits
- Modified Advanced Old Earth Pistol
- Trauma Pack
- Synapse Alpha
- Zero Wire
When you do find the Grunt Issue, make sure to pick it up! This is a skill bonus, as it grants Ballistic weapons permanent 5% more critical damage.
During the Failure to Communicate mission, you must repair satellites and defeat enemies. This quest will first take you to Alban Lopez Farm when you respond to the distress call. Once here, you will have to repair the communication satellites but will be attacked by Spacer ships. After you repair the satellites, you must join the Defense Pact before battling it out with the Spacers again. After you have completed this quest, you can your crew can loot the space station for valuables.
