Can Starfield be played offline? Starfield gameplay is very focused on a single-player experience and has been from the start. Combat, dialogue, and quests must all be experienced by yourself. However, there are other single-player games like Redfall that require an internet connection.

Starfield may end up having multiplayer elements which could require an online connection. Whether you are playing on Xbox Series X or PC, there might be co-op elements coming to the game. This way you may join a friend in New Atlantis or any of the explorable planets.

There is a lot that you can experience in Starfield such as the game’s many companions and the ability to build outposts almost anywhere. Of course, stuff like this isn’t always available to those without a constant online connection. Can you play Starfield offline?

Can I play Starfield offline?

Yes, Starfield can be played completely offline. It doesn’t matter if you are playing on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or PC/Steam Deck, you can play Starfield offline as long as you have a physical copy or have already downloaded the game.

However, you cannot play Starfield offline if you have your copy from Game Pass. Your Xbox and PC must verify that you have an active subscription before it will let you play Starfield, so it is not possible to play Game Pass games offline.

You also cannot play the game offline if you are streaming the game through Game Pass on your Xbox One. Those who upgrade to the more expensive editions will also need an internet connection to stream the game whether they are playing on Xbox or a Windows PC.

So for those who bought the game before or after the purchase date, and through their applicable time zone differences, there is no issue. The game’s unique storylines and character creation system will be available offline for anyone who owns the game outright.

Is Starfield always online?

No, Starfield is not an always online game. You can play it offline if you have the physical copy or the digital copy already owned. The only stipulation: If you received Starfield through Game Pass, you will not be able to play the game offline. Your Xbox and PC must confirm that you have an active subscription to Game Pass before it will let you play the game.

Can I play Starfield without an internet connection?

Yes, you can totally play Starfield without an internet connection if you have a physical copy of the game or have already downloaded the digital edition. However, you’ll have to find some way to get the patches if you want them. You do need an internet connection if you got Starfield through Game Pass because your PC and Xbox need to check that your subscription is still active before it lets you play.

Unlike Fallout and more Bethesda’s games, Starfield is day one on Game Pass, so Starfield fans can play it like other live-service games which require online activity. While you may only need a one-time internet connection every time there is verification, Bethesda’s latest title still needs you to check it out. This is still better than Elder Scrolls online which needed stable internet connections for all players.

Can I play my Game Pass copy of Starfield offline?

No, you cannot. You must always verify that you are a current subscriber to Game Pass before you can play games with the service. Bethesda Game Studios has no control over this rule, while the game is mostly for single-player experiences, you need to make sure that you have confirmed to have it every time you start your actual play time.

If you want to experience the different factions that Starfield has to offer and explore the Settled Systems, you will need an internet connection as long as your copy of the game is through Game Pass.
