Are you looking for a shovel in Baldur’s Gate 3? A shovel is a useful tool to have in your inventory if you want to get some extra loot and treasure. Using this item, you can dig up any dirt mound that you find using a perception check.

It turns out that there are a lot of secrets and hidden items scattered about Larian Studios’ massive game. While some of these are worth keeping, others are meant to be sold and will get you a good amount of gold. How to get a shovel in Baldur’s Gate 3

Surprisingly, there are multiple shovels you can get early on in Baldur’s Gate 3. After waking up on the beach, you will be able to search a large map area; during this time, you can find Astarion and Shadowheart. You can find one Shovel north of the crash site near the Roadside Cliffs Waypoint and Emerald Grove. This waypoint is where you can find Gale as well.

If you have already traveled east to the Overgrown Ruins, head north to the Chapel Entrance. Here, you will find a group of treasure hunters within the Dank Crypt. You may need to kill the treasure hunters to proceed, depending on the dialogue choices you make. You can find the Shovel in the back of the church. During your exploration, you can also find the Withers within this location and invite him into your camp.

Your best bet to getting a shovel is to grab the one near the Roadside Cliffs since it is the easiest to obtain. You can find more shovels later on by visiting merchants, you can buy it from Mattis in the Druid Grove. If all else fails, you can find one more shovel in the Blighted Village near where the Druid Grove is.

When searching these areas, be sure to watch out for traps as they can be plentiful. Always be sure to carry your shovel with you as there are many caverns and tunnels that have hidden dirt mounds. Each cave holds a secret. You should also be sure to check every slope, pool of water, and new path to not miss out on any dirt mounds.

The shovel can also be used as a weapon if you end up getting unarmed.
