We thought it would be a good idea to break down catching a Thestral in some nice and easy steps. To prepare for your hunt, we’d recommend equipping a few useful spells for the job to your current loadout. We found that the spells Levioso, Accio, and Arrest Momentum are perfect for controlling a Thestral.
Also keep the Nab-Sack ready to make sure you don’t let the Thestral escape before you bag it.
- Cast Disillusionment in order to stay undetected while approaching a Thestral
- Target the beast and cast Accio, Levioso, and Arrest Momentum in succession
- Deploy the Nab-Sack and complete the 5 button prompts before the spell effects wear off
If done correctly, the Thestral should be immobilized for long enough to allow you rescue it.
Where to find Thestrals in Hogwarts Legacy
You can’t track down your prize if you don’t know where to find a Thestral. Luckily, it doesn’t involve wandering the dangerous outdoors without any rhyme or reason. The Hogwarts Legacy map is certainly sprawling, especially if you’re new to open-world RPGs. You’ll want a find a Thestral Den located on the map, and one of the closest to civilization is in the wilderness north of Hogsmeade.
