Unfortunately, that is not the case. Instead, the parasitic tadpole affects Astarion, which can now walk in sunlight. Is it possible to become a vampire in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Yes, you can become a Vampire in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, you can only do this once you reach Act 3 in Baldur’s Gate 3. Additionally, you must romance Astarion to do so.

How to become a Vampire in Baldur’s Gate 3

As you know, to become a Vampire Spawn, a true Vampire Lord must bite you to become a fully-fledged vampire. To become a vampire in Baldur’s Gate 3, complete The Pale Elf quest. During this quest, you and your companions will be a strange Elf, only to learn he is a Vampire spawn when he tries to drink your blood. You will soon learn more about his past and the Vampire Lord who turned him, Cazador Szarr.

Once you spend more time with Astarion, you will learn he has a strange poem carved into his back by Cazador. After this, you’ll need to seek out the Devil Raphael, who can be found in the Shadow-cursed Lands. Of course, being the Devil, Raphael is interested in this poem, and once again, he will think about Astarion’s request.

You will soon meet him again at the Throm Mausoleum. Raphael will tell you more about Astarion’s poem if you kill Orthon beneath the Mausoleum. Raphael will tell you about the Rite of Profane Ascension on the road to Baldur’s Gate.

Cazador plans to sacrifice 7,000 Vampire spawn souls to ascend, which includes Astarion. You must then confront Cazador with Astarion by your side. After this, you must help Astarion ascend by entering his mind; however, it will sacrifice all the other spawns and Cazador. In doing so, will upset your other companions, such as Shadowheart and Halsin.

Ensure you have high approval when you romance Astarion. Allow Astarion to drink your blood again; after this, you must drink his blood, and with this, you can become Astarion’s Vampire Spawn. Once you do this, take a Long Rest, after which you will gain the Vampiric Bite ability. This a good, piercing attack that has you suck the blood out of a living creature for strength.

Should you let Astarion bite you in Baldur’s Gate 3?

In our opinion, yes. By letting Astarion bite characters, it effectively buffs him. The caveat to this is that this may increase the risk of death, but the advantages far outweigh the cons in this situation and can be beneficial in the long run. This will also increase his opinion of you when you allow him to romance you during the campsite, next long rest, or companion quest.

There is no cure for vampirism in Baldur’s Gate 3, so make sure that if you want to join the spawn and gain the Vampire Bite action, it’s what you really want to do. While you won’t be an actual Vampire Lord, you’ll still get plenty of the perks for your custom character.
