Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis release window prediction, what we know

Final Fantasy 7 is by far the most popular Final Fantasy game that Square Enix has ever published, and for good reason. The mixture of deep characters, brilliant gameplay and an engrossing story and world grasped the gaming collective. Recently Square Enix announced a Crisis Core remaster, a sequel to 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake and a compilation of all the original Final Fantasy VII timeline called Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis.
Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis is planned to be released in monthly episodic instalments and will retell the Compilation Of Final Fantasy VII. This includes the original Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Final Fantasy VII: Dirge Of Cerberus. The game was first announced last year and is envisioned as another remake of Final Fantasy VII that sticks closer to the original timeline, rather than taking a shot at telling something new like the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. Graphically it’ll be a chibi graphical style with 2D portrait artwork. It’ll have brand new musical arrangements and the combat system will be a twist on the standard Active Time Battle system.
Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis release window speculation

Currently, the latest release date news only points towards a 2023 release, according to the Wikipedia page. The only official news we can find for the Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis release date is that a closed beta test is coming in Summer 2023, which you learn more about on the official Square Enix website. The only speculation we have for a full release date though is some time during 2023, following the closed beta test.
It’s one of two announced mobile games from the Final Fantasy VII universe, along with Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, though the latter was shut down in January 2023. Unlike that game however, this will be a completely single-player experience without any opportunity for multiplayer.
What is Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis?
The game is currently only announced as a mobile game that will be monetised using loot boxes, in order to make the game free to play. As stated by the Final Fantasy 7 Remake creative director, Tetsuya Nomura:
“The monetized element is basically loot boxes containing random weapons. Some of the special weapons also come as a set that includes new costumes that were not in the original games, adding in a new way to enjoy the story that you won’t have seen before.”
The game will also contain some original storylines such as revealing the story behind the other Final Fantasy VII mobile game, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier.
“The events of First Soldier take place around 30 years before the FFVII main story, and go into the founding of SOLDIER, so it goes without saying that you will see some of the legendary heroes in their younger days, as well as younger versions of the future Shinra executives and other characters will will appear in the Remake sequels. The compilation titles outside of the original FFVII were not structured with the consistent overworld and battle visual design of the original game and have completely different battle systems, but I wanted to unify them all in one format for FFVII EC, while not losing the individual character of the different games.”
